The International Guitar-Symposium Iserlohn was born in 1991 and is a cultural project of the German local government. It has also become one of the largest and most advanced guitar art festivals in Europe. The festival organizing committee decided to add an international guitar competition since 2000. Each competition attracted the competition from the US GFA competition, the German Koblenz competition, the Italian Alexander competition, the Spanish Segovia competition, the Alhambra competition. Winners of the world’s top guitar events. Successive winners such as Su Meng, Irina Kulikova, and Jun Junhong are currently active on the world music scene, and they are all representative of the new generation of guitar players. This year’s festival attracted more than 300 guitarists, artists and contestants from around the world.
The players who participated in the 9th Iserlohn International Guitar Competition this year are all famous teachers. From the beginning of the preliminary round, a large proportion of the players were eliminated by the jury, which showed fierce competition. Only 9 players from both age groups entered the semi-finals. Among them, only 17 of the 17-21-year-old Chinese players were successful. The elimination of the semi-finals is even crueler, with only the top 3 players in each group entering the finals. Among the 6 finalists in the two groups, the students of the Sichuan-Yuanzhongzhong guitar major occupied 3 seats, which caused quite a stir in the festival. The other three finalists are award-winning professional players in the international guitar competition. Antonia Haslinger, the second winner of the 17-21 age group, is from the Salzburg Conservatory of Music in Austria and studied under the world famous guitarist Marco Tamayo, and won the first place in the Heinrich Albert International Guitar Competition in Germany; Ivan Praljak, the third place winner in the same group, from Croatia, currently studying at the Düsseldorf Conservatory in Germany, studied under the world famous guitar player Ivan Praljak, a professor at the Düsseldorf Conservatory of Music, won the Best David Kellner Interpretation Award in the Koblenz International Guitar Competition in June this year.
Competing with these high-ranking masters from the world’s prestigious universities and international top masters, the three players from SCCM High School were full of confidence and played their due performance. The final result ignited the emotions of all the performers, musicians and spectators present, and ‘CHINA’ became one of the most repeated words.
In the closing concert, the youngest award-winning player, Wen Wenjie, won the standing ovation of the audience for a long time with ‘Hungarian Fantasia’. The resounding song ‘Vila Lobos Etude No. 11’ was perfect. Skills and musical performances brought the concert to a climax. The famous German musician Professor Augustin Wiedemann also praised Wen Wenjie’s outstanding performance in his own FaceBook tweet.
