Students of Electronic Music Major Won the 2019 International Electronic Music Competition Awards

The 2019 International Electronic Music Competition (2019IEMC) Awards Ceremony, Award-winning Works Exhibition and MIDI Technology Development Application Forum was held on October 12th at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Students from our school’s electronic music department will win prizes in the competition.
The competition was a large-scale, top-level competition, from the preliminary round of August 2019 to the final of October, lasting more than two months. The jury of the competition consists of more than 20 industry experts. The chairman of the jury is Professor Chen Qiangbin, the president of Shanghai Computer Music Association. Han Yanmin, the teacher of the electronic music department of our school, was invited to be the guest judge of the contest.
The electronic music department undergraduate class 2017 top student Li Zhongyuan, with the original work ‘distant distance’ (instructor: Cai Yibin) to participate in the ‘Best Music - Flying Award’. In addition, graduate students respected the creation of the work ‘Heart Devil’ (instructor: Hu Xiao, Yang Guang), Huang Sihua’s creation ‘The End of the Sea’ (instructor: Yang Wanqi, Lai Xiaozhi [Japan]) won the finalist.
The contestants exchanged in-depth with the experts of the colleges and universities, as well as the Netease Music Cloud and other media during the competition. Electronic music students won important awards in this competition, once again reflecting the advantages of electronic music. Participants said that by participating in the competition, they have further mastered the cutting-edge knowledge in the professional academic and commercial fields, and significantly improved their professional practice ability.
The International Electronic Music Competition (IEMC) is hosted by the China Musical Instrument Association and the Shanghai Computer Music Association. It is supported by the International Association of MIDI Manufacturers (MMA) and aims to set a peak benchmark and become a leading player in the industry. Young people’s creative ability; promote the incubation and support mechanism of original digital music works, provide a platform for the development of juniors; promote the diversified development of digital original music in China, and realize the cooperation between industry and academia.
