On October 11th, at the 23rd Beijing International Music Festival, the Suzhou National Orchestra, under the leadership of the famous conductor Mr. Peng Jiapeng, staged the Beijing Poly Theater, presenting an Orchestral concert with the theme of "The South of the Yangtze River in Silk and Bamboo". In the concert, Kang Qiaoxuan, a cellist in the United States and cello teacher of the orchestral department, as a cello soloist, with the Suzhou National Orchestra displayed the cello and band work "Chu Song" by the young composer Li Bochan. The deep love and hero themes in the Chinese story "Farewell My Concubine", with a new cross-border fusion of Chinese and Western art expressions, ignited the enthusiasm of young music fans.
Teacher Kang Qiaoxuan, who has been active on the international stage for many years, said, “We need to convey the connotation of Chinese culture to foreign audiences in a way that is easier to understand. For example, using the cello that I have learned to explain the national language is easier to be accepted by Westerners."
Founded in 1998, the Beijing International Music Festival is held in Beijing every autumn. It is a large-scale music event approved by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China and the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. It is one of the most famous international music festivals and invites famous musicians and music groups from home and abroad to participate. There were famous tenor Carreras, soprano Catherine Bartle, pianist Argerich, Fu Cong, Tan Meiwen, violinist Stern, Sarah Zhang, Du Mei, conductor Gergiev, Yuri Tmirkanov, Plasson, Norio Oga, composer and conductor Pandletsky and other dozens of musicians coming to perform.
